Tip of the Week

A new employee’s first days on the job provide a host of wonderful “teachable moments.” To take full advantage of this special time, it’s important that you don’t ignore new-employee orientation.

To start, concentrate on showing new employees how their work will contribute to the success of the company. Help them gain a complete understanding of your products or services and how your company differs from its competitors. Also, be sure to introduce newcomers to all their co-workers and to school them in the corporate culture. Make sure, for example, that they don’t mistake a casual dress code for a casual attitude toward work. (Taken from BusinessWeek.com)
