- Road works at Lears, St. Michael
- Landscaping at BIDC and
- Landscaping at British High Commission Properties
In recent years the SBAEI has modified its business model to embrace the realities of the local business environment and the culture of our businesses. This modification has led to the SBAEI adopting the facilitator role. In this role the SBAEI identifies commercial business opportunities and informs its members of these opportunities. The members are then able to follow up on these sales leads. In addition the Association provides the members with the appropriate training, facilitates the meeting process and offers assistance where possible.
SBAEI is currently facilitating:
Two construction projects: The Buckley and the Calajahada projects. These are both construction projects.
The engagement of its members in sectoral groups. The SBAEI has started building the capacity of its members through the engagement of its members in sectoral groups. There are six sectoral groups: Construction, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Professional Services, ICT and General Services. These groups are expected to meet frequently and among other issues discuss the challenges they are experiencing with any possible solutions, any projects that they can work on together as well as allow the dissemination of information. It is expected that this will result in larger contracts being awarded to members, local distribution channels being penetrated and overall growth of the small businesses.
Sectoral Promotion Events. SBAEI is working on projects geared for each specific sectoral group. Some of these include in store (supermarket) promotions of members, hosting of farmers markets and publishing of construction directories.
Any member of the Barbados Small Business Association can access the opportunities offered by the SBAEI. Attending the sectoral group meetings are vital to businesses that desires to fully reap the benefits, as this is where important decisions are made and opportunities are discussed.
The SBAEI board of directors comprises of six persons with the chairperson being Sandra Husbands, the directors being Mr. Babb, Ms. Holder, Mrs. Celeste Foster, Mr. Ricardo Walcott and the Corporate Secretary being Mr. Wall.
